RESPECTFUL DEVELOPMENT
Growing up in a family-owned nursery and landscape business provided me with a lifelong appreciation of plants and nature, as well as a desire to travel to see how nature plays out in different parts of the world.
In 2007, I embarked on a journey to Nicaragua. With the country’s history of unrest, I anticipated a real adventure. Not knowing what to expect, I arrived with a sense of apprehension. However, upon arrival, I was pleasantly surprised.
In the nearby town of San Juan del Sur, just 3 kilometers from Cala Azul, I was greeted by friendly locals with warm smiles. The town exuded a youthful, vibrant energy, and I felt a sense of safety and comfort. It was clean, inexpensive, and colorful, with a diverse international community of surfers and tourists from around the world. Compared to other places I had traveled to, Nicaragua offered a unique blend of third-world charm and unlimited potential.
The town’s vibrant atmosphere and the surrounding natural beauty captivated me. I was eager to explore the country further and immerse myself in its rich culture and history.
Upon setting eyes on Cala Azul, I was struck by its breathtaking beauty. “There are few places in the world that have as stunning a view or as beautiful a setting,” I remarked.
The surrounding native forest, one of the few dry tropical forests left in the world, held particular significance for me. This unique microclimate, where cactus, tropical plants, and hardwood trees thrive together, is a testament to the resilience of nature.
The views extended to the butterfly reserve on adjacent land, inviting a symphony of birds, monkeys, butterflies, dragonflies, and hummingbirds to this wildlife sanctuary. In the distance, Costa Rica’s majestic peaks beckoned.
In 2016, the purchase of Cala Azul was finalized, ensuring that this pristine sanctuary would be developed with the utmost respect for its natural beauty. The vision for Cala Azul includes a trail system with walking bridges, relaxation stations, a yoga platform, swim beach access, private residences, condominiums, and a 5-star resort with a pool and restaurant. These amenities will provide a seamless connection between the community and the incredible nature that surrounds Cala Azul.
Cala Azul is an ideal place to build your dream home, whether for a permanent residence or a vacation retreat. Immerse yourself in the tranquility of this special place, where nature’s wonders are yours to discover and cherish.
